We are pleased to announce that Dr. Patrick O. Brown of Stanford University, California, US, has been selected to receive the ABRF Award for 2010. This award is in recognition of Dr. Brown's pioneering work in the field of DNA microarrays, and the application of this technology to areas such as gene expression studies and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays.
The ABRF Award is awarded annually by the ABRF in recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of biotechnology. Biological research is driven by technology. As new instruments and chemistries are conceived and implemented, new frontiers are created and new possibilities emerge. Technology, from the invention of the light microscope to the deciphering of the Human Genome, opens doors into the unknown that would otherwise remain firmly sealed. The ABRF Award recognizes those pioneers responsible for development of the powerful new tools that serve as the foundation of modern biological research. The ABRF Award will be presented at the ABRF 2010 meeting and the awardee will give a lecture at the meeting.
